Leah Donald and Dock (Horninglow Penruddock) have been competing all winter in the Greenlands winter whp series and won the overall points. They have been competing against other ponies of all shapes and sizes, so this is a really great achievement. Dock won classes at every show what a clever little ponio. Well what a day for Sharptor Sliver Skyline and Harvey Fletcher- Hodge at the South West Shetland Group Show They not only won lead rein but we’re also ridden champion and overall supreme of show (think mum Brynony might have helped a bit) Then Skyline went on to win the In hand mare class & to top the day off she went standard champion too. What better way to end the hunting season than with a Shetland meet at Allenford with the Wilton Hunt. Kindly sent to us by Bea Shepherd who looks like she had a ball along with everyone else. Carmilo Magician, Cranford Fantastic, Briar Tiffany, Shelcroft Buttercup Allenford Katniss (who’s Bea & Mandy Shepherds homebred). Lucas Murphy, Nell Stephenson, Finn Murphy along with Bea were all piloting. Alfie Diaper took Damerham Briar Lily. About 10 Shetlands all together went out in the sunshine for a fabulous day, also led round were two miniatures at the meet for a meet and greet! Change in SPSBS showing rules taken from the Society Website:
CHANGE TO SHOWING RULES Ridden stallions MUST display a stallion bridle badge. In-hand stallions 2 years and over are advised to display a stallion bridle badge. Now for the multi talented Hackamore Black Jack who has been at pony club mounted games with Catherine Walton’s daughter Mia on board & what better way to keep him in tip top condition than driving (well we can’t let the children have all the fun).
What a week the Richardson family are having first Lilly wins a Visualise jacket with her laid back photo, then it’s definitely straight backs to qualify for The Royal international in the first ridden today. Briar Snowman has also picked up his leadrein R.I ticket which younger sister Penny will take up the reins for.
Visualise Sportswear said “What a super little pony and great to see Lilly having fun, and staying nice relaxed on board!!! We thought a Visualise Children's jacket might help straighten her up." and Mum Lucy just added “what a legend” - We think that sums it up beautifully. Gemma Davies sent us these fabulous photos of Matty aged 9 with the lovely Sharptor Autumn Sunset leading the hounds from the children's meet and practicing their jumping this holidays.
Looking to join a group of like minded shetland people, there will be one in your area too, you don’t have to have a pony, as offers of help on show days or for social events are always gratefully received. Here is Jenna Land’s report from the East Anglian lunch..... "The East Anglian Shetland pony group had there first get together of 2019 with fabulous support and raising lots of money for the groups funds with the meal, raffle and tack sale. Looking forward to our next event our spring show on the 28th April. We are so lucky to have such wonderful members and support." We don’t post much about our own ponies but for a change I will, this was our half term.....(Lucy Bearcroft)...☺️
Shetlands are better when they’re shared. Fay had her friends over for a pony play day, where no one was left out. Horninglow Whinlatter lead by Lauren (7) Fay (6) & Darcey (2)!!! Darcey did a lot of walking just leading her up & down the field, with Winnie taking great care of her little leader. Today took us to a local agility competition where Fay & Winnie took top spot I’d have never thought that doing agility would have made such a difference to both pony & child but they have come along way in a short amount of time, gaining the trust of each other. Someone else making the most of the half term sun....
Sophie (6) is having a lovely time on her Shetland pony enjoying the weather. Her pony Hedderwick Tara has been kept busy in a range of activities recently...showjumping, mounted games and hunting always looking after her little rider. Jane Richardson Adel Phillips thinks she’s turned into a crazy shetland lady.... well we say welcome to our world. Thank you Adel for sending us this, we love the stable doors 😍 ”I thought I would share a little snap shot of our half term, dressage practice in the fog, letting the kids pick their own stable door colours and Sapphire coming up with some interesting solutions to having 4 ponies to exercise and only two riders . Pankymoor Sir Bruce and Millvers into Darkness. Lovely to have reports from some new combinations,we’re excited to see what the season holds for them all & wish them every bit of luck. Tasha Sutherland This Pair have only been together for a few months and are finally clicking. So far this year Jaime and Tiny (Bramins First Edition)have been bonding and having fun but are now preparing for a busy showing season ahead on lead rein. Going to be so much fun for the two of them and Hopefully a successful year with there first show of the year in the next few weeks. |
